Wall Lamp Model 2209 II by Elidus, Design Björn Svensson, Sweden, 1970s

This vibrant red wall lamp, Model 2209 II, was designed by Björn Svensson for Elidus. Produced in the 1970s, it’s a striking example of the era’s bold colourful and space age shapes, paired with genuine functionality.

The lamp features a glossy red plastic shade with a black plastic diffuser insert, mounted on a flexible chromed metal gooseneck arm for easy directional adjustment. It’s fixed to the wall via a black metal switch housing with an integrated on/off toggle — practical, tactile detailing typical of designs from this period.

It’s worth noting that Elidus lamps like this one are frequently — and mistakenly — attributed to Hans-Agne Jakobsson, likely due to stylistic similarities between the two designers’ work. The design of the 2209 II is now recognised as the work of Björn Svensson during his time at Elidus.

This 2209 II is in very good condition with only minor signs of wear and age. The lamp is fully functional and comes with its original wiring and plug. E27 bulb.
