Trio of White “Skarabé” Floor Lamps by Stig Ahlström and Clas Kock for Ateljé Lyktan, Sweden, 1980s

The “Skarabé” series was designed in 1982 by Stig Ahlström and Clas Kock for Ateljé Lyktan in Ahus, Sweden and was to become one of the most iconic pieces of Swedish lighting design from the 1980s.

The first model was the table lamp (model 9936), followed by the floor lamp (model 9937) and lastly the wall lamp (model 9938). The design is so simple, yet so intriguing. The sleek streamlined body with the black grid-like detailing form a beautiful contrast. The adjustable mirrors allow for any light projection direction. The lamp’s design resembles a carnivorous plant, making the design both minimalistic and mysterious. The lamps are made of metal with only the switch housing made of plastic. The lamp requires a GU5.3 light source and is included.

This trio of Model 9937 Skarabés is not 100% matching. All three lamps are slightly different in age and specifications. All three are in good vintage condition with the bodies and lamp bases showing slight traces of use and wear consistent with their age. They are fully functional with no breaks or other major damage.
