Table or Desk Lamp, Type 121 – Nybro Armaturfabrik (NAFA) — Sweden, 1960s

This desk lamp by Nybro Armaturfabrik is a study in unexpected material combinations. The base is a solid block of amber glass — warm, deep, and completely faultless — from which a brass swan-neck stem rises before transitioning into a flexible brass gooseneck, giving the head full directional adjustment. The shade itself is brushed aluminium, cylindrical and precise, switched via a pull cord.

Amber glass, patinated brass, brushed aluminium — not an obvious combination but the three materials really work well together, giving the lamp a luxurious appeal. The lamp has real presence on a desk or side table.

Condition is very good throughout. The glass base is perfect with no chips, cracks or scratches. The brass stem and aluminium shade show minor wear consistent with age and use. Marked “121 NAFA” on the screw fitting at the base. E27 bulb. New wiring, switch and plug.

Nybro Armaturfabrik (also known as NAFA, NAF, or ANF) was founded in 1948, the company was a significant Swedish manufacturer known for its high-quality lighting fixtures, often utilizing materials such as brass, glass, teak, and pine. During its peak production period in the 1960s and 1970s, it gained recognition for its distinctive Scandinavian Modern designs. Nybro Armatur Fabrik closed its doors in 2004.
