Pewter Table Lamp by Lundin & Lindberg, Marked “Svenskt Tenn”, Sweden, 1937

A distinguished Swedish pewter table lamp from 1937, made by Lundin & Lindberg and bearing a fine example of Nordic Classicism meeting early Functionalist design sensibility.

The base is a masterpiece of the pewtersmith’s craft — a broad, flared circular foot rises through a slender tapered column, flanked by three elegantly scrolled open brackets with curled terminals, giving the piece a graceful, almost organic quality reminiscent of Art Nouveau whilst remaining restrained and modern in its overall form. Small bun feet lift the base from the surface.

The underside bears the maker’s stamp “L & L — Svenskt Tenn” with the letter E in the centre circle, indicating a higher tin content in the alloy, and the year code “L8” confirming the production year as 1937. Note that “Svenskt Tenn” here is simply the Swedish term for pewter and should not be confused with the well-known Stockholm design company of the same name.

The lamp is in good vintage condition with natural patina, light scratches and oxidation consistent with its age — all adding to its authentic character. It has been newly wired and takes an E27 bulb. The cylindrical linen shade shown in the photos is included.
