Stoneware Table Lamp by Rolf Palm — Mölle, Sweden, 1970s

A quietly beautiful table lamp base in hand-thrown stoneware, covered in a rich, mottled brown glaze that shifts in the light from warm amber to deep earth tones. The form is simple — a wide, flattened sphere narrowing to a slender neck, topped with a black fitting.

Rolf Palm (1930–2018) was one of Sweden’s most respected studio ceramicists of the 20th century. After his early years working at the Höganäs factory in Skåne, he established his own studio in the coastal village of Mölle, where he spent the rest of his career mastering the art of throwing and glazing stoneware. Known for his deeply tactile surfaces and earthy, nuanced glazes, his work is represented in the collections of the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design. The base carries Palm’s signature incised into the clay, as well as the original “Stengods” label — Swedish for stoneware.
