Solid Teak Table Lamp by AB Stilarmatur Tranås – Sweden, 1960s

A beautifully sculpted teak table lamp, model 523, by the Swedish manufacturer AB Stilarmatur Tranås. The tapered teak column rises from a substantial circular base, its edge hand-carved with a striking arched motif, a detail that catches the light differently from every angle and gives the lamp real sculptural quality even before it’s switched on. With its clean lines, organic warmth and functional elegance this is a wonderful example of Swedish Modern design.

AB Stilarmatur Tranås was a Swedish lighting manufacturer founded in 1946, based in the town of Tranås. Through the mid-20th century, the company became known for well-crafted, design-forward lighting in materials like teak, brass, and glass, embodying the clean, quality-driven approach typical of Swedish lighting design of the era.

The lamp is in very good condition. The only thing worth noting is what looks like a small moisture mark on the base, which doesn’t take away from its overall presence. It has been rewired with a new socket and an inline switch on the cord, and takes a regular E27 bulb.
