Pine Table Lamp by Pileprodukter, Lund – Sweden, 1970s
This table lamp by Pileprodukter of Lund, Sweden is made wholly from pine — a solid block base with a hand-carved star motif on one side, and a cylindrical shade formed from a single, impossibly thin pine slat, bent into shape and held together by a leather lace, which we think is a particularly nice detail.
When lit, the grain of the wood glows a deep amber, turning the shade almost translucent and filling a room with the warmest possible light. Off, it reads as a confident, sculptural object.
Designed and produced in the 1970s, the lamp retains its original Pileprodukter Lund label on the base. Condition is very good vintage throughout. There is a small hairline crack at the top of the shade — a natural consequence of the pine being shaved so fine at that point. It does not affect the lamp’s function or, in our view, its beauty.
