Pair of Black Metal Goat Candleholders — Gunnar Ander for Ystad-Metall, Sweden, 1960s

Among Gunnar Ander’s most beloved designs are his playful wrought iron wire animals, and these goats are an absolute classic. Designed in the 1960s and produced by Ystad-Metall in Sweden, each figure is crafted from a single flowing line of black painted metal wire — the curling horns, the delicate legs, the suggestion of a beard — all rendered with a lightness and charm that feels both folk-inspired and thoroughly modern.

Each goat holds two small candles of approximately 10 mm diameter, making them a wonderfully atmospheric addition to a Christmas table or a year-round decorative accent on a shelf or mantelpiece.
