Model 4486 “Triggy” Floor Lamp by Lars Bessfelt & Christian von Sydow for Ateljé Lyktan, Sweden, 1984

The Triggy is a striking piece of 1980s design — a study in architectural contrast. A solid, heavy triangular ceramic base grounds the lamp with sculptural weight, while a slender chrome stem sweeps upward in an elegant curved bend before flattening out into a surprisingly wide, shallow disc shade. The result is a lamp that feels both substantial and light on its feet, capturing the geometric confidence so characteristic of Scandinavian lighting design of the era.

Triggy was designed by Lars Bessfelt in collaboration with ceramist Christian von Sydow, and launched in 1984 for Ateljé Lyktan. It was produced in both table and floor lamp versions.

We currently have a pair of Triggy floor lamps in stock, both in very good condition. The ceramic bases show light signs of age — minor surface scratches and one small chip on each base — though this does little to diminish their presence. The acrylic shade discs, by contrast, are flawless, free of any cracks or scratches. The brand new shades were supplied by Ateljén, the company Lars Bessfelt founded in 1981 and still runs today. Ateljén has always produced the flat shades for every lamp Bessfelt designed for Ateljé Lyktan, and has been manufacturing lamps under Ateljén’s own brand, Zlamp, since 1994.

Both Triggys were acquired directly from their first Swedish owners, who purchased them new in the 1980s.

The Triggy takes a GR8 2-pin compact fluorescent 2D / square “butterfly” plug-in tube — a bulb type still widely and easily available today.

Within the Netherlands and Belgium, the lamps are delivered personally by us free of charge due to their weight and fragility.
