Glass Table Lamp by Hannelore Dreutler / Studio Åhus for Ateljé Lyktan, Sweden, 1980

This large glass table lamp was designed by Hannelore Dreutler of Studio Åhus and manufactured by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden. The lamp is signed and dated 1980 on the glass body, and carries the original Ateljé Lyktan label on the brass fitting, confirming its model number (5499).

The clear blown-glass base is beautifully architectural in form: a cylindrical upper body flares outward into a broad, stable foot, with two bold glass rings encircling the waist of the base — a sculptural detail characteristic of Dreutler’s work for the Studio Crystal lighting series. A polished brass rod runs through the centre of the glass body, connecting to a brass lamp fitting at the top. The overall effect is one of elegant restraint: the transparency of the glass, the warmth of the brass, and the graphic contrast of the black shade work in perfect harmony.

This lamp is featured in the published book on the history of Ateljé Lyktan, confirming its place as a significant piece within the brand’s design legacy.

Hannelore Dreutler (1942–2009) was a German-born artist who trained at Konstfack in Stockholm. Together with Anders Pehrson — director of Ateljé Lyktan a the time and with whom she had previously worked at Kosta Glasbruk — she co-founded Studio Glashyttan in Åhus. Their collaboration with Ateljé Lyktan produced the acclaimed Studio Crystal lighting series from 1978 onward: table lamps, wall lamps, and pendants combining handblown glass with textile shades.

Dreutler remained at Glashyttan for thirty years. She passed away in March 2009 at the age of 66.

Both Studio Åhus (Studio Glashyttan) and Ateljé Lyktan remain based in Åhus to this day.

The lamp is in wonderful original condition with hardly any signs of usage. The black lamp shade is a replacement so not original and is included. E27 light bulb.
