Eric Wärnå for EWÅ Armaturfabrik, Värnamo, Sweden — Model B-71 Desk Lamp, 1970s

Clean, purposeful and quietly confident — this Model B-71 desk lamp by Eric Wärnå for EWÅ Armaturfabrik is a fine example of Swedish mid-century industrial design at its most resolved. The combination of brushed aluminium shade and base with a polished chrome stem creates a pleasing material contrast that feels both professional and refined, while the distinctive double-conical shade — narrowing at the middle before flaring again at the top — gives the lamp a sculptural quality that sets it apart from more generic desk lamps of the period. The on/off switch is neatly integrated into the base, keeping the design clean and uncluttered.

EWÅ Armaturfabrik may be less internationally documented than some of the larger Swedish lighting houses, but it was a respected and capable and contributed meaningfully to Sweden’s golden era of lighting design. Their work consistently combined industrial metalworking with the clean, practical elegance that defined the best Scandinavian design of the period.

The lamp still has its original wiring and plug (which can be replaced) and is in great vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with its age — a few small dents to the base rim and light scratches on the shade and base, as visible in the photos. It takes an E27 light source.
