Candle Holder Made of Horseshoe Nails – Gunnar Ander for Ystad-Metall, Sweden, 1960s

This sculptural candlestick was designed by Gunnar Ander for Ystad-Metall and is a striking example of Swedish design from the 1960s. Made from hand-forged horseshoe nails, it showcases Ander’s talent for transforming simple, industrial materials into expressive decorative objects.

The radial form, with its curled details and central spike candle holder, gives the piece a bold, almost sun-like presence. Both rustic and refined, this candlestick works beautifully as a statement piece on a dining table or sideboard, embodying the craftsmanship and character that Ystad-Metall is known for.

The candle holder is in good vintage condition with beautiful patina and no structural damage. Suitable for any large candle of up to 7 cm diameter. Marked “Ystad-Metall”,  “Made in Sweden” with Gunnar Ander’s designer stamp above it.
