Brass, Black Painted Metal and Teak Candelabra by Gunnar Ander for Ystad-Metall, Sweden, 1960s

This seven-arm candelabra was designed by Gunnar Ander and produced by Ystad-Metall in Sweden during the late 1960s. It is marked “Made in Sweden,” confirming its origin. The design combines a geometric teak base with slender, curved brass arms and black-painted steel candle holders—an elegant mix of materials typical of Scandinavian modern design from the period.

The arms radiate outward in a balanced, fan-like composition, giving the piece a strong sculptural presence even when unlit. The stepped teak base adds warmth and visual weight, while the combination of brass and black metal creates a refined graphic contrast.

Gunnar Ander was one of the most important designers for Ystad-Metall, known for his distinctive use of brass and modernist forms. His designs helped define the company’s identity during the mid-century period, and today his work is highly regarded among collectors of Scandinavian decorative arts.

The candelabra is in very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. The candelabra is suitable for regular candles (24mm diameter).
